OWERRI—An oil and gas laboratory will soon be established in Owerri, even as government has charged the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, FUTO, to do a serious study on the gas reserve in the Anambra Basin.
The Senate Committee Chairman on Gas Resources, Senator Osita Izunaso, who disclosed these when he led his committee members on a tour of Addax Petroleum flow station, Izombe, Oguta Local Government Area, Imo State, also said the project was covered in the 2010 budget.
He was particularly happy that by the time Addax Petroleum finished the exploration and start oil activity in their latest location at Awo Omamma, the company was likely going to get about 15,000 to 20,000 barrels per day.
Izunaso urged the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, to support companies that have production sharing contract, PSC, with it by ensuring that all the things sent to it were not stalled.
