ABUJA— MINISTER of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, Senator Bala Mohammed said yesterday that the National Hospital, Abuja has failed the country for not meeting up with the goals of its founding fathers.
Senator Mohammed who descried the deplorable condition in the hospital in view of its sorry state, stressed that he was disappointed that an edifice of such could not compete favourably with international standards, adding that the Abuja National Hospital ought to be one of our national monuments which has been left dilapidating.
Speaking last Thursday when he received the Governing Board of the Hospital in his office, the Minister urged members of the Board to ensure that the Hospital was repositioned to help reduce the burden of travelling overseas for treatments.
The Minister who challenged the Board members to prove that they were capable of putting the Hospital on sound track to enable it be on the same level with foreign Hospitals of similar standard to conserve our precious foreign reserve, however, described the National Hospital as a pride for the Federal Capital Territory.
