Dana Motors, Starwood partners on ‘Football Owambe’ project

Dana Motors Limited, authorised distributor of the Kia range of automobiles in Nigeria has thrown its weight behind the Starwood Hotels in Nigeria ‘Football Owambe’ project with the sponsorship of the star prize of a Kia Rio.

The ‘Football Owambe’ is aimed at rewarding loyal football fans who will be at Starwood Hotels viewing centres during the 2010 FIFA World Cup, which holds from June 11 to July 11 in South Africa. It will involve all Starwood Hotels in Nigeria namely- Sheraton Lagos Hotel, Sheraton Abuja Hotel, Le Meridien Ogeyi Place, Port Harcourt and Le Meridien Ibom Hotel & Golf Resort, Akwa Ibom.

Speaking on the partnership, Mr. Jacky Hathiramani, Managing Director, Dana Motors Limited, said “Kia Motors is one of the official sponsors of the 2010 FIFA World Cup and as Kia’s distributors and marketers in Nigeria, we are excited at the opportunity to join Starwood Hotels in bringing the best of the fans to enjoy live matches in excellent viewing centres across the country. We will be joining Nigerians to support the Super Eagles and also celebrate those who have supported the Kia brand in the last decade.”

The ‘Football Owambe’ project is designed for avid football fans that are unable to travel to South Africa as well as loyal customers to be part of the fun and excitement of the game. All they need to do is visit any of the Starwood Hotels, and spend up to N2000.00 per day on food, beverage/merchandise and they will receive a coupon, which qualifies them for the raffle draws which has the Kia Rio as the grand prize.

Commenting on the project, Mr. Gassauer Alexander, Area Manager for Nigeria and General Manager of Sheraton Lagos Hotel announced that as part of his organisation’s corporate social responsibility programme, Starwood Hotels in Nigeria will donate 5% of the revenue from “Football Owambe” to junior football development in Nigeria through the Ministry of Sports and Youth Development at the Nigeria Sports Festival (NSF) to be held in Port Harcourt. The grand raffle draw will take place on 16th July at the Sheraton Lagos Hotel.
