ABUJA—The Governor of Bauchi State, Alhaji Isa Yuguda has approved the compulsory retirement of Justice Habibu Idris Shall from office. The approval is sequel to the recommendation of the National Judicial Council, NJC.

In a statement by the Secretary to NJC, Danladi Halilu, Justice Shall’s sin was that he fought on the street and attempted to abduct one Kassim Danlami Shall of the Bauchi State Ministry of Works and Transport in his car boot.

His despicable conduct was said to be an embarrassment to the bench and contrary to the Code of Conduct for Judicial Officers in the Federation, as well as the Oath of Office he had subscribed to.
NJC is a creation of section 153 of the 1999 constitution with statutory powers to hire and fire erring judicial officers.

It would be recalled that the National Judicial Council (NJC) had earlier suspended the judge.
