Wall collapses, kills one person, injures 3 others in Jigawa

Dutse — One person was killed while three others sustained various degree of  injuries in Birnin-Kudu when a wall of  Jigawa State Agricultural Supply Company, JASCO, in Birnin Kudu town collapsed.

An eye witness (name withheld) told Vanguard that the unfortunate incident occurred on Sunday afternoon while the victims were loading fertilisers into a lorry within the premises of the company for distribution.

A source  said the late Mallam Bala Birnin-Kudu met his death few minutes after he performed his afternoon prayer, and resumed the loading of fertilizers in the truck, when the wall suddenly collapsed on them and he died instantly while three persons sustained injuries.

Contacted, General Manager of JASCO, Alhaji Muhammad confirmed the incident, saying already the deceased has since been buried according to Islamic rites.

Muhammad said other three persons who sustained injuries were rushed to Birnin-kudu General Hospital, where they were treated.

According to him, the partition wall which collapsed separates the NPK and Camper fertilisers in the store, adding that the wall collapsed due to heat of the chemicals of the fertiliser that had weakened the building.
