Villagers uncover leakages in NNPC/NGC gas pipeline

By Emma Amaize
WARRI — VILLAGERS have reported multiple leakages on NNPC/Nigeria Gas Company, NGC, Escravos gas pipeline at Azama, Opuedebubor and Oporoza communities in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Delta State.

Secretary-General of Opuedebubor community, Mr. Mike Itima, who alerted Vanguard, said the leakages at several points on the gas pipeline were observed since last week.

He said, “please, we want quick response on this because it is affecting human lives in the environment.”
One of the villagers who spoke to Vanguard on the multiple leakages, said the gas pipeline was buried inside the water, adding that it was already polluting their environment.

“We thank God that it is inside the water, if not, anything could happen, and the people can be wiped away,” he said.
Efforts to get comments from the NGC in Warri failed, as non of the officials could be reached on the telephone.
