Police probe death of middle aged man

By Ifeanyi Okolie
HOMICIDE detectives at the State Criminal Investigations Department, SCID, Panti, Yaba, Lagos, have commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death of a middle aged man, Israel Edeh, in his apartment last week.

The deceased whose lifeless body was found dangling on the ceiling of his 92, Oshogbo Street, Ikate, Surulere residence in Lagos, was found by a neighbour who had checked on him at about 9 p.m that evening.

Police source said no suicide note was found at the deceased’s apartment when the body was removed for autopsy.

But a source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, alleged that the late Israel was being investigated by the office where he worked for the misappropriation of N1.8 million.

He was said to have failed to give proper account of the missing money before he took his own life.

The Lagos Police Command image-maker, Mr Frank Mba, while confirming the report, said the police had commenced full investigation into the matter.

“We have commenced full investigation into that matter  and  we don’t want to conclude it was suicide. I want to tell you that we are looking beyond suicide and we are trying to unravel if it was murder and was staged for suicide,” he said.
