PDP LG chairman decamps to AC

By Simon Ebegbulem
BENIN—BARELY 48 hours after the lawmaker representing Orhiomnwon 1 constituency in the State House of Assembly, Mr Patrick Aisowierien, dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for Action Congress, AC, the PDP chairman in Orhiomnwon Local Government Council, Chief Emmanuel Igiebor, yesterday declared for the ruling party.
This comes as Vanguard was reliably informed that three PDP members in the House of Representatives would be declaring for Action Congress before the end of this month.

The House of Representatives members are all from Edo South senatorial district, the strong hold of the two-time governor of old Bendel State, Dr Samuel Ogbemudia.

Chief Igiebor, one of the founding members of the PDP in the state, said he decided to leave the PDP because he was tired of the internal wrangling in the party which, according to him, is now a “visionless party.”

He added that “apart from the problems in the party, we all have seen what the Comrade governor is doing in the state.
“I cannot believe that within a very short period of time, this state capital is fast becoming another Dubai.”

Governor Adams Oshiomhole, who spoke while receiving Chief Igiebor and his supporters at Government House Benin City, asserted that “we are changing the politics of the state and we cannot be afraid to continue to do what is right.”
“This party (AC) belongs to all of us, there is no master or godfather.”
