As Nigerians awaitÂ the inauguration of the newly elected Nigeria Premier League, NPL board led by Davidson Owumi, former Golden Eaglets coach, Henry Nwosu (MON) is confident that Owumi will do a good job following his vast knowledge in the game.
Nwosu, a member of the 1980 Nationâ€™s Cup squad said the former Rangers boss is credible and can do the job of taking the domestic league to the next level.
â€œHonestly speaking, it is a thing of joy to have a person who is vastÂ in the affairs of football. I will say Owumi is an ideal person for the NPL, especially with the fact that he has been in the game for long.
â€œI believe he will stand the test of time and I know he will be able to meet with the challenges on ground. I wish him well and pray that at the end of his tenure, things will be put right,â€ Nwosu said.
Last week, the former league top scorer emerged the winner of the chairmanship election of the NPL defeating Bayelsa United chairman, Victor Rumson Baribote by 13- 4 votes.
Elections were also held for positions into the board, with former Vice Chairman Shehu Gusau retaining his position on the board.
Also elected into the NPL Board are Akin Akinbobola, Abdullahi Danbaba, Baribote, Adebayo Wopa and Joseph Wopa. The members were sworn in immediately after the election, and will be inauguratedÂ tomorrow.
