In a chat after the main organising committee for the festival that had the Rivers State deputy Governor, Engr. Tele Ikuru in attendance, Iyayi exuding confidence said Rivers State would host the festival and win, but not at all cost.

“We will host and win, but not at all cost. We have determined athletes. We can achieve the feat to make a statement in the history of the National Sports Festival.

“We’ve not won the festival before, but this time we have all it takes to realise that feat”, Boma Iyayi said as he declined to disclose the state’s stronghold in the 25 sports listed to feature at the festival.

“It’s a tough target to host and win, and we are going to motivate our athletes to realise the dream.
“The athletes are aware of what they stand to gain should they excel in their events to register the State on the Festival record book, and they are going into close camp to ensure we achieve the feat”, he said.
