EX-INTERNATIONAL Garba Lawal has hailed the inclusion of Portsmouth forward, John Utaka in the Eagles provisional 30-man list by team’s Technical Adviser, Lars Lagerback.
Lawal, a member of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) also commended the Eagles manager for the inclusion of the two home-based players, Bassey Akpan, Bayelsa United’s goalkeeper and Lobi Stars’ forward, Tema Suswan in the list.
“We have all the players we are looking for in the list. It’s left for him to choose the best that will make the last 23-man squad. I am particularly happy for John Utaka for making it to the 30-man list.
I always remember him as a player for what he did during my time. Though sometimes, a player may not do well at the club side, but in the national team he plays well and that’s football for you. It depends on the manager of the team on what role he wants a player to play.
“I am also happy for the inclusion of the two home-based players, Bassey Akpan and Tema Suswan. I am happy for them even if at the end of the day they did not make the last list of 23. They would have acquired more experience for future assignments.
