ABA — ABDUCTORS of the former Action Congress, AC, councillor, who represented Akwette ward in Ukwa East Council  of Abia State, Omen Olujie, younger brother to the Secretary of  Abia State Independent Electoral Commission, ABSIEC, have demanded a N20 million ransom before tomorrow or he will be killed.

A reliable source close to the family told Vanguard in Aba that the suspected kidnappers, after keeping their victim for days, have finally called demanding that the ransom should be made available at an undisclosed location within Abia-South Senatorial Zone.

Olujie was kidnapped last weekend in Ukwa East Local Government Area of Abia State after the hoodlums had shot dead two policemen and a civilian.

Olujie was said to be returning from a meeting of the party at about 12 noon when he received several phone calls from unknown persons unaware that he was being trailed.

The family source explained that prior to Olujie’s abduction, he had been receiving several phone calls from people who claimed to be politicians pledging to support his next political ambition.

‘It’s political’

The source said “since Olujie declared his intention to contest for the 2011 House of Assembly election under AC platform, several threatening calls have been put across to him by unknown persons.

“His kidnap has political undertone and we are sure that his incarceration is targeted at whittling him down  his political ambition.

“We are not unaware that since our brother decided to contest the next House of Assembly election, many people eyeing the same position have become jittery.

“You know that he belongs to the opposition party in the state from  where he won the last councillorship election.

“They want to stop him because they know he is popular and projecting his party, AC, in the area and the entire state.”
