Groups support Metu for PDP chair

By Dapo Akinrefon

AS the race to replace out-gone National Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prince Vincent Ogbulafor, hots up, two South-East groups, PDP South-East Progressive and PDP South-East Elders League have thrown their weight behind Chief Olisa Metu to take over the leadership of the party.

A statement by Messrs Ken Okereke and Emeka Mgbeagha of the PDP South-East Progressive said the move to endorse Chief Metu became imperative “having studied the biographical background of those aspiring and being nominated to the post.”

In addition, it said “in the South-East where he is currently the National Vice Chairman, he has executed reform programmes within the polity by organising meetings and fora between groups for the benefit of the common South Easterners, like counselling in various schools, meeting with members of NUPENG during the fuel crisis in the South-East.”

The group, however, called on lthe eadership of the party to tread with caution in its choice, just as it said Metu was the best man for the job.
