The Kwara State Government wants to resolve the protracted water scarcity in the state before quitting next year.
The Commissioner for Water Resources, Dr. Abubakar Kannike told journalists in Ilorin that old pipes laid decades ago had been replaced while new ones are being laid across to ensure water gets to all nooks and crannies of Ilorin.
In order to ensure that residents in otherÂ other parts of the state get efficient water supply, contracts worth N88,850,692.5 have also been awarded for the rehabilitation of nine waterworks in the three senatorial seats. They are to be completed within two months.
The commissioner while signing the contract papers named the waterworks as Kanbi, Zambufu, Orogan, Owodekekere, Ladeyo, Oro-Ago, Fufu, Arandun and Apado which are strategically selected across the sixteen local governments in the state.
He said:Â â€œAs the state government is laying water pipes in the Ilorin metropolis and carrying out reticulation of both high and low pumps of the Asa dam, the state is also poised to rehabilitate some of the about 92 waterworks in other parts of the state.
