Chukwu: Owumi will lift the league

Former Green Eagles captain Christian Chukwu heaved a sigh of relief when it was announced that former Rangers of Enugu boss Davidson Owumi is the new NPL chairman.

Chukwu, described Owumi as a young man brimming with ideas capable of taking the Nigeria Premier League to heights never attained  in the history of the league.

“I think its a good omen, he has seen it all. He has played and managed the game  very well and I know he will contribute meaningfully to the development of the league,” Chukwu said.

Meanwhile, the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Enugu state chapter, has congratulated the newly elected chairman of the Nigeria Premier league NPL,  Davidson Owumi, describing him “as a square peg in a square hole”

In a statement endorsed and made available to sports writers yesterday in Enugu by the state secretary of the body, Mr. Ignatius Okpara of New Nigerian Newspapers, the organization, applauded the transparent and peaceful manner the poll was conducted.
