Yusuf Ali bids farewell to Idowu, condoles family

As the family of late sports philanthropist, Nathaniel Idowu, prepares to lay his body to rest this weekend, former chairman of the Nigeria Football Association, Yusuf Ali, has said that Nigeria had lost a man who sacrificed a lot for the development of sports in the country.

In a condolence message to the family of the late football administrator, Ali said “Pa Nathaniel was a man who gave a lot of meaning to football and sports administration and believed in youth development for a brighter future.”

The former NFA boss recalled the role played by Pa Nathaniel Idowu in the formation of what is today called the Nigeria Professional League and challenged those who run the league and football generally not to deviate from the ideals set by the founding fathers of the league.

“We must not deviate from those ideals as maintaining them would be the biggest honour to the late father of modern Nigerian football, Pa Nathaniel Idowu.”
