Users of IT gadgets worry over inadequate warranty

By Charles Mgbolu
Some consumers of IT electronic gadgets and it’s accessories ranging from television systems to DVDs, PCs, CPUs, laptops and mobile phones have let out their anger over what they have described as the very short warranty coverage on IT systems by foreign manufacturers with retail points in the country.

Cyberlife gathered from some of these IT consumers that a number of these IT systems whose warrantee level run for only two years begin to develop electrical or mechanical faults exactly two years after the appliances are purchased. This automatically leaves their owners out of the warrantee coverage rights which would have allowed them enjoy free servicing of their appliances at no charge at all.

Cyberlife has learnt that as a result of this, consumers have lost several thousands of naira to quack technicians out there on the streets  with claims of invaluable knowledge as regards IT applainces. The fault quickly develops  from bad to worse and the appliance is labeled beyond- repair and packed up.

Mr Wasiu Ajana, an IT consumer has just replaced his faulty laptop with another one has called this a stab in the back by these manufacturers whom he practically accuses of willfully programming their products to run just far before packing up prompting consumers to purchase another. “it is the sales cliche that is always used but have all not lived to expectations.”
