Port Harcourt—Three persons suspected of killing an American citizen, Mr. Cyril Amadi, about two weeks ago, have been arrested and are being detained by the   Police in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Amadi, who was originally of Omuigwe village, Aluu, Ikwerre Council, had lived in the USA for 21 years and was visiting the state for the first time afte when he was trailed and hacked to death as he headed for Port Harcourt from Omuigwe village.

Vanguard learnt that certain unknown persons have started threatening the life of a brother of the slain American, Dr. G. C. Amadi,  following which the family has appealed to the Police for protection as the “the threat is real.”

Police Public Relations Officer, Rita Inoma-Abbey, confirmed that “three persons have been arrested in connection with the assassination of Cyril Amadi,” stating that the people will appear in court “after police investigations into the matter.”

However, Inoma-Abbey said she was not aware of the threat to the life of Dr. Amadi, suggesting to the family or Dr. Amadi  to write an official letter to the police informing it of the threat to enable the force act on the  matter.

But in a swift reaction,  solicitors to Amadi availed a petition which is being forwarded to the police to allow their client move about freely, and requested the police to act fast and bring the perpetrators of the heinous crime to book.
