Rivers youths pledge support for NDDC boss

PORT-HARCOURT —  Youths in Rivers State have pledged their unflinching support for the Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Mr. Chibuzor Ughwoha.

Their support came against the backdrop of the crisis currently rocking the commission.

Addressing the media, Chairman, Rivers State chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Mr. Oko Bethel, charged those allegedly fighting the Managing Director to desist forthwith.

“We call on the various groups and individuals who are involved in peddling cheap blackmail and vile attacks on the personality of Mr. Chibuzor Ughwoha to desist from this despicable scheme forthwith,” he said.

The Executive Director of Project, Architect Etteh, had in a petition to the Presidency, published in dailies, accused Ughwoha of  allegedly awarding contracts without   due process.

It would be recalled that the new board which came into being last year has been enmeshed in crisis.

Bethel described the managing director as very capable for the office, saying  “we must not fail to place on record that Mr Chibuzor Ugwoha has shown enough proof that he is capable of piloting the NDDC ship which would spearhead the development of the region.

“He is a man of proven integrity, considering his unmatched antecedents and he deserves all commendation “

He urged Niger Deltans to rise against those viewed as enemies of the managing director for peace to reign in the region.

“We urge all well meaning Niger Deltans to rise against such persons and give peace a chance for stability and development in the region by supporting Mr Chibuzor Ughwoha,” he said.
