Police probe death of lady banker, five days to wedding

The Police in Lagos Thursday said they had begun investigation into the killing of a Lagos-based lady banker whose lifeless body was discovered, Tuesday, inside her apartment in Opebi, Ikeja area of Lagos.

The deceased identified as Chika Nwachukwu, was reportedly stabbed several times in the neck by  unknown assailants who further scribbled the words: “We have done the deed, bastard,” on a sheet of paper with her blood.

Chika who, until her death, worked with Bank PHB, Lagos Island branch, was reportedly preparing for her wedding which was to hold tomorrow.

Report said Chika was last seen Monday night at about 8 p.m. when she drove in and made for her three-bedroom flat, which she occupied alone.

But apprehension set in the next day, when the door of her apartment located on 107, Opebi Road was still locked from within, a situation described as unusual .

However, when the door was forced opened, Chika was reportedly met stone dead on her bed with her hands and legs spread open and blood stains on her bed.

Policemen from Bode Thomas division, as gathered, were contacted where the first round of investigation began.  Police sources said there was possibility that she might have been raped before she was murdered

Already, some persons had been invited for questioning. Among them were the deceased’s close friends, one of whom was said to have spoken with the deceased Monday night. Others included the deceased ex-boyfriends.
