Pension board arrests two impersonators

By Kingsley Omonobi

ABUJA—Authorities of the Military Pensions Board in Abuja yesterday paraded two suspected facilitators of fake military pensioners in Abuja with one of the suspects, Miss Mary Bosede accused of trying to ‘plant’ the names of seven deceased ex-soldiers into the list of those who are alive, so that they can be paid pensions which eventually will end up in the pockets of a cabal.

The other suspect, a retired Lance Corporal (Daniel Akume), a bonafide pensioner whose name is on the payroll, was accused of impersonating another pensioner (Corporal Dominic Gaadi) who is sick, and trying to collect his money and claiming to be the person until his documentation processes gave him out as an impersonator.

Speaking on the development, Chairman of the pensions board, Brigadier General Bitrus Kwaji expressed regret that a lot of people particularly fraudsters, were yet to come to terms that activities at the pensioners board were not business as usual.
