Nestle opens plant in Dubai, Philippine

Nestle has opened a new a production facility for powdered milk and a packaging unit for imported Mackintosh’s Quality Street chocolates.

Located in Dubai’s TechnoPark, the facility will also manufacture chocolates and wafers later this year. In addition, Nestle Pure Life bottled water will also be produced and distributed from the facility.

Yves Manghardt, Chairman and CEO of Nestle Middle East, commented: “The production capacity of the new facility will be more than 100,000 tons per year. We have made enough provision to expand our operations to meet growing market demands for the next few years”.

“We have invested more than USD 400 million in the Middle East over the years and the new multi-million dollar manufacturing facility in TechnoPark is another testimonial to our deep commitment in this region”, added Manghardt.

Nestle’s Middle East operations recorded a revenue of over USD 1.4 billion in 2009. The company has 17 factories and 37 offices in the region employing over 7,000 people.The company has also opened a USD 15.3 million ice cream and chilled dairy products factory in Pulilan, located in the Philippine province of Bulacan.

The facility, built on 4.5 hectares, took 14 months to be completed. A Nestle spokesperson said that 220 workers have already been transferred from another facility in Aurora to the new site. The spokesperson added that the new factory will be considered a benchmark facility for the production and delivery of ice cream and chilled dairy products.
