Jigawa govt releases N127m for scholarship

DUTSE — Jigawa State Government has released over N127m for the payment of scholarship allowances to 2009/2010 continuous students, the Executive Secretary, State Scholarship Board, Alhaji Babangida Hussaini disclosed.

Speaking to Vanguard in his office, Hussaini said the amount included the registration fees for girls in tertiary institutions in accordance with free education policy of the government for girls at tertiary levels, adding that 7,257 students studying in 72 tertiary institutions would receive the allowances.

Hussaini explained that the payment of the scholarship will commence tomorrow in all the schools. He urged students to be in their schools and to be orderly during the payment.

He commended the administration of Governor Sule Lamido for providing all the necessary support and finance for the development of the education sector, reiterating the commitment of the board to continue with its responsibilities and enable the government achieve its objectives.
