Former gov, Ezeife’s wife kidnapped, 4 policemen killed in Anambra

AWKA- HOODLUMS appear to have renewed their siege on Anambra State with the reported kidnap of the wife of Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife, the first civilian governor of new Anambra State, Mrs. Odionye Ezeife and killing of four policemen on Wednesday night.

The robbers were said to be operating in two Sports Utility vehicles, (SUV) from Umunze in Orumba South council area of the State, where they killed two policemen at a check point and proceeded to Uga in Aguata council area where they killed another police officer and yet another one at Ezinifite also in Aguata.

The robbers, who were said to be escaping from Imo State, got to Igboukwu, the home town of Ezeife where they snatched a Hilux Pilot vehicle belonging to the wife of the former governor and took her hostage. Mrs. Ezeife was said to be returning home at the time of the incident.

Deputy Commissioner of Police in the State, Mr. Glover Oshodi confirmed the incident, admitting that the State police command lost some of its men in a gun battle with the armed robbers.

According to him, the robbers were the same group that has been terrorizing the entire south east zone, adding that they operated in Imo state earlier and were escaping through Anambra state.
