Ekiti govt reassures residents over concession of dams

ADO-EKITI—Ekiti State Government has again re-assured the people of the state that the present policy of concession of public dams to private investors will not alter the price of selling water to members of the public

According to the statement by the State Commissioner for information and Orientation, Mr  Taiwo Olatunbosun the concessioning was aimed at   ensuring better  supply of water  to members of the public at  reasonable price

According to the statement by Gbenga Ogunremi on behalf of the commissioner, the on-going water for all project of the Oni-led administration,  would increase water production to a minimum of 106 million litres per day which he said represents 133% of the expected state demand of 80 million litres.

The Commissioner emphasized that the present administration embarked on an aggressive “Water for All’ programme to promote the general well being of the people and described it as the most comprehensive project since the creation of the state.

According to him, nine booster stations and reservoirs were constructed while two others were rehabilitated, adding that over 286 kilometers of water pipelines were either newly constructed or rehabilitated across the state.
