Nigeria’s flagbearers in the CAF Champions League, Heartland, have been drawn to play South Africa’s SuperSport United in the third round of the competition. Heartland were runners-up of last year’s finals, where they lost to T.P Mazembe of D.R Congo. Supersport have been consistent in domestic league for over two seasons now.

The South African outfit host Heartland on the weekend of April 23-25, while the return leg would be decided on the weekend of May 7-9 in Owerri. The draws were made at the Cairo headquarters of the Confederation of African Football yesterday.

Heartland scrapped through  into the third round after a nerve-jangling 1-1 draw against Tiko United of Cameroon  at the Dan Anyiam Stadium Owerri. The first leg had ended in a 2-2 stalemate, thereby, ensuring Heartland progress on the away goals rule. They scored two goals  in Cameroon.
Heartland now face another teasing tie against SuperSports United.

In other fixtures in the competition scheduled for the same date are,  Djoliba of Mali or ASC Linguere  of Senegal play defending champions, TP Mazembe, Al Hilal of Sudan) confront Ismaili of Egypt, J.S Kabylie of Algeria battle Angola’s Petro Atletico, Tunisian’s Esperance tackle Al Merreikh of Sudan, Dynamos of Zimbabwe play Gaborone United of Botswana, Al Ittihad of Libya confront Al Ahli Egypt, while Algeria’s Entente Setif battles Zanaco of Zambia.

Meanwhile, in the Confederation Cup third round draw, Nigeria’s Warri Wolves have been handed a tricky fixture against CAPS United of Zimbabwe, with the first leg taking place on the weekend of April 23-25 in Zimbabwe.

Also, on the same weekend, Nigeria’s second representatives, Enyimba of Aba are to play ASV Club of D.R Congo in another third draw. The first leg holds in Congo.

In other fixtures, CS Sfaxien of Tunisia) host Petrojet of Egypt, FUS Rabat of Morocco entertain Stade Malien of Mali, who are the holders of the trophy, Coton Sport of Cameroon play Primeiro Agosto of Angola, Simba SC of Tanzabia tackle Haras Al Hodoud of Egypt while AS FAN of Niger host Daring Club Motema Pembe of DR Congo.
