ABUJA—THE National Vice Chairman South East of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Olisah Metu yesterday directed the newly constituted Caretaker Committee for Anambra State to put a halt to plans for the reconstitution of the party’s leadership at the local governments and wards levels in the state.
Chief Metu in a statement yesterday in Abuja noted that the South East leadership resolved that the re-composition be suspended, adding, “the South East zonal leadership has directed the caretaker committee to suspend the composition of the local government caretaker committee. This is to enable the state caretaker committee to conduct wider consultation and involve the National and State Assembly members, as well as past and present PDP ministers from the state.”
It would be recalled that the PDP National Chairman, Prince Vincent Ogbulafor had last week set up a nine-member caretaker committee with Mr Cosmas Agagbo as the chairman. The Committee was, among others, saddled with the responsibility of overseeing the affairs of the party in Anambra State following the expiration of the tenure of Professor Osita Ogbu-led Committee before the February governorship election.
