All is set for the commencement of the 2010 Lagos Governor’s Cup football competition which begins later this month at various centres across the state.

According to Festus Ebri Ogana, Chairman, Ebrimandy Sports Concept, marketeers of the competition, over three hundred clubs in Lagos are expected to take part in the preliminaries in the various zones.

In a chat with Sports Vanguard, Ebri said, “clubs from the 20 local government areas and the 37 LCDAs are expected to showcase the stuff they are made of in this winner takes all contest.”

He further disclosed that the Governor’s Cup was one competition that embraces both grassroots and league clubs. “This will afford the smaller or relatively unknown clubs to rub shoulders with their more illustrious counterparts,” the company boss remarked.
He called on interested clubs to identify with the competition which has since received the approval of the Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola.

Ebri said the state government had shown enormous interest in the competition that the organisers and the commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Prince Rotimi Agunsoye, were working in tandem to ensure this year’s Governor’s Cup turned out a huge success.

He also called on corporate sponsors to identify with the 2010 Lagos Governor’s Cup, stressing that there was so much to benefit as special and attractive packages had been put in place for them.

“Whoever identifies with us will have cause to rejoice at the end of the day as there is a lot to gain in terms of goodwill and more,” he concluded.
