Akunyili vows not to relent fight against corruption

THE Minister of Information and Communications, Professor Dora Akunyili, Wednesday, said she will intensify the fight against corruption in the country.

Prof. Dora, who stated this when she met with the chief executives of parastatals and management of the ministry, declared that the fight against corruption by the government was real and must be strengthened in the ministry.

According to her, “The anti-corruption war of the Federal Government is real and must be intensified in this ministry. This time I and the Honourable Minister of State, Mr. Labaran Maku, hope to work with you to reposition the ministry to deliever on its mandate and continue with our ongoing projects in the ministry and the parastatals. We will evolve and incorporate new ideas to enhance the performance of the ministry in delivery its mandate to Nigerians.”

She appealed to the management and staff to be open, honest and professional in their decisions.

On the occasion,the Minister of State, Maku, said the ministry of information in any government is the most difficult task because when things go wrong the populace depend on it for up dates. “It is a live-wire of the government. I am very aware of the difficult role the ministry has to play. But it is a job that must be done.”
