Truck’s brake fails , kills 25 persons in Lokoja market

….15 others  seriously injured

FIVE persons including two siblings of a member of Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Ibrahim Bababodo, have lost thier lives in a fatal motor accidents which occurred along the Felelee area of lokoja last night.

Vanguared gathered that fifteen others who sustained serious injuries are currently being treated at the state Specialist Hospital in Lokoja and the dead deposited at the Federal Medecal centre.

The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission, Yomi Asani, who confirmend the deaths to newsmen, blamed the incident on brake failure on the part of the driver of a truck belonging to Dangote Group of Company.

Asaniyan said the driver of the truck whose registration number could not be ascertained as at press time was said to had lost control and in the process rammed into the popular feleele market killing the people on the spot.

Kogi State Governor, Ibrahim Idris, in a statement Tuesday signed by his Special Adviser On Media, Zakari Adami described the incident as a ‘tragedy’ and called for a state mourning.

Adamu regretted that the incident was comning barely two months after the killing of no fewer than 90 persons in Dekina, in |Dekina Local local Government areas of the State following a brake failure by a truck driver.
