Sovereign Trust Insurance sponsors maiden cyclists tour 

Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc has joined forces with other notable brands in the country and the Lagos State Government in sponsoring this first-of-its-kind tour in the country as well as having being appointed the Official Insurer for the 12-day cycling tour.

Cycling enthusiasts from across Nigeria have something to look forward to as the Cycle for Hope Team arrives the country for a 12-day Pan-Nigeria cycling tour as part of their efforts to raise funds for the development of a Hope Academy in Nigeria.

The young cycling athletes who are from Ireland and Wales will be joined by some Nigerian athletes to ride through the streets of 13 major cities in the country. Mr. Wale Onaolapo, Managing Director of the company said “It is very delightful for us as an organisation to collaborate with the Lagos State Government and other corporate organizations in ensuring that the Cycle for Hope Team realizes its aspiration of touring the beautiful vast landscape of Africa.

“We are indeed very proud to be associated with this epoch-making event as well as providing insurance cover for the young athletes and officials who are participating in the tour.

The STI boss said, the corporate philosophy of the organization with regards to corporate social responsibility is hinged on the HSC platform; Health Sports and the Community.

“As a company, we are determined to help raise the bar in terms of our intervention level in the afore-mentioned areas.

“Our involvement in this regard has been quite consistent and we can only hope for greater opportunities in giving back to the society.

“Our decision to be part of the event is premised on our avowed interest in the development of sports in Nigeria and the Sub-Sahara Africa.
“We will, as much as the opportunity avails us, continue to promote the development of human resources through sporting activities of this nature and other qualitative human development programmes.

“We are indeed very pleased to be associated with the event and what it represents in the larger society”.
Reverend Moses Iloh, President, Ambassadors In Sport Nigeria, in his appreciation remarks thanked the management of Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc for accepting the invitation to be part of the sponsors for the Nigerian arm of the tour.
