NFA ‘harass’ FIFA over $1m training grant

By Ben Efe
Nigeria Football Association is making frantic efforts to have a quick release of the $1 million dollar training grant,  FIFA makes available to nations that have qualified for the World Cup.

It was discovered at the Zurich headquarters of the world soccer governing body that NFF, is the only federation that has made request for the grants to be released amongst the member nations that are participating at the South Africa 2010 World Cup.

The NFF wrote to FIFA in respect of the training grants, we are still waiting for their response. We have to wait till when others are being paid, said a source at the NFF.He disclosed that the NFF is banking on the grants from FIFA to settle allowances and winning bonus of players and coaches particularly that of the Eagles manager Lars Lagerback who will pocket 150,000 dollars, if he makes the round of 16 and then 200, 000 dollars if he makes the semi-final target that was set for him. The Swede will collect 500,000 dollars if he reaches the final.

There is an amount of money FIFA gives to the teams for reaching each round. We are expecting to use this money to pay for all allowances and bonus for the coach.
