THE new Registrar General of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), Bello Mahmud , has unfolded a four- point agenda for the Commission.According to him, the four point agenda are: Enhanced Information, Communication and Technology infrastructure; Decentralization of operations; Sensitization of the public; and Development of Human Resource.
He promised to continue from where his predecessor stopped, and even to surpass him in the area of achievement and raising standards. He said that he has concluded arrangements to decentralize its operations in order to make the zonal offices more functional and at par with the head office. The move will empower the zonal offices sited at strategic geographical locations in the country to print registration certificates.
“The scheme will not only make the Commission’s services more efficient but also reduce cost of registration as the decentralization will curtail transportationâ€, he emphasized.
He stated that his immediate focus is to enhance the Commission’s ICT infrastructure to ensure efficiency of the system and also ensure high level of data integrity, adding, “A robust ICT infrastructure will improve network availability and establishment of an effective E- payment systemâ€.
According to him, the Commission will embark on an effective sensitization programme aimed at creating an enhanced public awareness on the responsibilities of both Directors and Shareholders of companies. This he said will also enhance the compliance drive as well as boost the revenue base of the Commission.
