THE National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, has announced the arrested of five persons for allegedly forging NAFDAC and importation documents.
Addressing newsmen in Lagos yesterday, Mr Garuba Macdonald, Director Enforcement, who stood in for Director-General, NAFDAC, Dr Paul Orhii, named the suspects as Victor Ntoka, Ann Ntoka, Chris Nwabuakwu, Adesina Kareem and Ishola Quadri.
According to Orhii, â€œfollowing intelligence report, a team of Enforcement Officers raided shop 20T, Ozde Shopping Plaza, Ajao Estate to investigate the activities carried out in the premises. Investigations revealed that Mr. Victor Ntoka and Mrs. Ann Ntoka are into production of fake airway bills and other shipping documents for clearing agents while Mr. Chris Nwabuakwu, Mr. Adesina Kareem and Mr. Ishola Quadri, who were arrested alongside during the raid are customers and accomplices that came to forge documents.
â€œDiscovered during the search of the premises were desktop computers and laptops used for producing these fake documents, blank airway bills and also a forged airway bill belonging to a multinational pharmaceutical company.
Orhii said the agency also intercepted two trailers carrying suspected fake regulated products smuggled through Seme border which were concealed with furniture and metal bunks.
â€œOne of the trailers had in it Tracia lightening shower cream belonging to one Chief Obi and Jenifer Lopez secret fade soap belonging to Mr. Chris Ezenwa which were concealed with metal bunks, while the second trailer had 304 bottles of Eva grape juice belonging to OnyekachiÂ Nig.Â Ltd which was concealed with furniture,â€ he said.
