Macebuh not about to be thrown out, says Family

The family of the late  Dr. Stanley Macebuh has expressed its embarrassment by the story in the front page of a National newspaper, not Vanguard, of yesterday, where it was alleged that Dr Macebuh not only died a pauper but that he was about to be thrown out of his apartment as the rent on the building was to expire exactly on the day he died.

According to a statement by his younger brother, Professor Kingsley Macebuh:“Fact is that, until his death, the late Dr. Macebuh lived in a duplex that was given to him rent-free by his age-old friend and soul-mate, Dr. Patrick Dele Cole, who convinced him to return to Nigeria.

“So to announce to the whole world for whatever reason that Macebuh was about to be thrown out of that same house because the rent was due, when he paid no rent whatsoever there, is not only to insult Macebuh but to show grave ingratitude to Dr. Cole.

“Secondly, the late Dr. Macebuh was living alone by the time he died. All the friends still close to him must have heard from  the man himself how his wife packed out on her own volition.”
