INEC outlaws use of adhoc staff for polls

Port Harcourt—As part of efforts to check election rigging and other electoral malpractices, the Independent National Electoral Commission has outlawed the use of adhoc staff in conducting all elections in the country.

The change, the commission said, it has “been discovered that the adhoc staff are often times agents to politicians whose neutrality cannot be assured.”

According to the reform by INEC, only staff of the commission and members of the National Youth Service Corps would be eligible to conduct future elections in Nigeria.
