Imo Teachers College now skills acquisition centre

By  Chidi Nkwopara

OWERRI—Imo State Government has approved the immediate conversion of the Teachers Training College, Egbema, to a full-fledged Skills Acquisition Centre.

Confirming this to Vanguard  in an interview in Owerri, the Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Urban Planning, Mr. Levi Oguike, also expressed regret that previous administrations allowed the structures in the school to rot away.

He also disclosed that government had given his Ministry marching order to scout for land at Eziorsu, Oguta Local Government Area of the state, where the Naval Leadership Training School would be located.

“Arrangement is equally on top gear to source for a more strategic location for the building of Oguta Inland Port along Orashi River instead of Oguta Lake,” Oguike said. Asked why the shifts, the Commissioner said, “you don’t establish a port in a lake. The river is deeper and has access to the Atlantic Ocean. You can go to Abonema from Orashi River and Abonema is on the Atlantic Ocean.”
