Emotions ran high, Tuesday, when a 38-year-old woman revealed how she sold her younger sister’s three-week-old baby for N30,000 to a Ghanaian.

The woman, identified as Ezine Paul, also revealed how she bought a seven-year-old girl who was believed to be her biological child from a general hospital in Onitsha, Anambra State, for N60,000.

The suspect, according to the command’s spokesman, Mr. Frank Mba, a Superintendent of Police (SP),was arrested after her 29-year-old blood sister, Uju Onuoha, reported at the Ayobo Police Division of the disappearance of her three-week-old baby. The baby, according to Uju, was last seen with Ezine, who, on enquiry, explained that she had taken the child to a motherless baby home.

Ezine confessed to have sold the baby to a Ghanaian woman for N30,000, claiming also that the mother of the baby was aware of her plan to sell the baby. But her claim was countered by Uju.

On how she met with the Ghanaian, she said, “after my sister put to bed, my elder brother suggested we did something about the baby so as to allow my sister have a new life. So, I told three people to look for whoever was interested in buying a baby.

Then, one of the women called me and informed that she had found an interested buyer. We met around Igando, close to the police station where she gave me N30,000 and also said the Ghanaian woman also gave her N20,000.”
