EXCOF dissolution: ‘How new minister from Edo should emerge’

By Simon Ebegbulem

Edo Democratic Coalition (EDC), a socio-cultural organisation in Edo State, has described the dissolution of the Executive Council of the Federation, EXCOF,  by Acting President Goodluck Jonathan as a “wise decision” and urged him to pick somebody who will be well accepted by the generality of the people of the state as Minister.

The group through its secretary, Mr.  Igho Agbontaen, and Mr. Silvanus Ehijemen, said the dissolution of the EXCOF would enable the acting president pick capable hands that would assist him in moving the nation forward.

In picking a minister from the state, the group urged the acting president to consult with the Oba of Benin, the governor of the state, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, Dr Samuel Ogbemudia and other stakeholders in order not to make mistakes.

It stated  “As a socio-cultural and non-partisan political pressure group, we have been following with keen interests the contemporary issues that have been trailing our nascent polity since the unfortunate health status of President Yar Adua, for whom we are fervently praying for God’s healing; especially the diabolic attempts made by few elites to undermine your Ag. President’s status, we pray you forgive them.”
