Ejigbo organises mini sports festival

The Sports Committee of Ejigbo Local Council Development Area, has concluded a four-day mini sports festival in the council area, in preparation for the 2010 Lagos State Sports Festival.

The committee’s publicity secretary, Mrs. Olasimbo Uviesherhe, in a statement, described the event as a successful one void of catastrophe.

She explained that the grass-roots sports was among other things, aimed at encouraging youths under the council and also to prevent them from indulging in dubious acts that could contribute to the already alarming societal ills. Winners in the games which included ayo, basket ball, table tennis and football, she informed, would represent the council in the state’s sports festival which is around the corner.

Commending the support of the council chairman, Honourable Kehinde Gbamigbetan, for the success of the festival, Mrs. Uviesherhe said, “also worthy of note is the support of the committee chairman, Henry Amike and those of the Supervisor for Agric, Hon. Remi Gbadegbeshin and head, department of agric, Ejigbo Local Council Development Centre, Mrs. M.A. Gbajabiamila.
