Edo and Rivers States have emerged winners in the Boys and Girls  categories of this year’s edition of the Oba Of  Benin National Under-13 Boys and Girls football competitions, as Okoro Orji (Edo) won the University of Benin scholarship award for the highest goal scorer.

To emerge victorious, the Edo team defeated Kaduna 2-0, while the Rivers female team handed their Edo counterpart a 7 -6 defeat.

The Most Valuable Player in the female category went to Wogu Chioma,(Rivers) while Okoro Orji won the Most Valuable Player and the highest goal scorer award for the boys.

Speaking at the final held at the Palace of the Oba Of Benin play ground, President of the Youth Sports Federations of Nigeria, YSFON Alhaji Jamiu Ojulari  commended the host state for its sponsorship of the annual football championship as well as the Edo YSFON executive for a hitch free event.

He  called on corporate bodies in the country to help sponsor the federation’s programmes so that the youths of the country can benefit because with sponsorship, the body will have enough competitions for the players to exhibit their talent.
