Edo PDP faction tells Assembly members to resume sitting

By Gabriel Enogholase

BENIN—THE Dr. Samuel Ogbemudia-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Edo State has called on its members in the State House of Assembly to resume sitting to enable them give quality time and representation to their constituencies.

In a statement in Benin yesterday by the faction’s Publicity Secretary, Prince Francis Omo-Osunde Iyasere, the party re-affirmed that what “our people need mostly now is peace and development and the party is ready to partner with government to give our people just that.”

The party said it did not share the view of Owere Dickson Imasogie, a chieftain of the party loyal to Chief Tony Anenih, who was alleged to have said that the Judiciary in Edo State was the baby of the state governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.

Insisting that Owere Imasogie was on his own and not speaking for the party, the faction said,”the PDP believes and respects the judiciary and no amount of slanderous remarks from misguided individuals can set the party on a collision course with the judiciary.”

It, therefore, appealed to its members in Edo State House of Assembly to resume sitting since the matter was already before a court of competent jurisdiction.
