Super Eagles midfielder, Sani Kaita, has sounded a note of warning to their opponents ahead of the first ever World Cup to be hosted on the African continent later in June, in South Africa .
Kaita told Sunday Vanguard sports exclusively that Nigerians should not use the situation of the last Africa Cup of Nations in Angola to judge the Eagles, pointing out that the World Cup will be a different ball game with the employment of the new Technical Adviser, Lars Lagerback .
“I am sounding confident that you will see a new Super Eagles Nigerians are looking forward to at the World Cup. This time around Nigerians will be surprised with our determination because with the new Technical Adviser, we will go far and surpass our previous performance at the World Cupâ€, he said.
Concerning Lagerback , Kaita said that he is ready to work with the Swede and give his best, adding that Lagerback’s wealth of experience will take the Super Eagles far in South Africa, stressing that Argentina is not a threat to the Eagles despite their array of stars, including world footballer of the year, Lionel Messi, whom he has played against before.
“Argentina is not so special. If people think that the Argentines have Messi, the Super Eagles also have Sani Kaita. This is not a laughing matter, it is a fact and reality. I have played against Messi twice, first in the Netherlands in 2005, during the World Youth Championship final and at the Beijing Olympics football final in 2008.
He was not exceptional, I marked him out to the extent that spectators did not know he was on the field of play.
