Desist from playing politics with Yar’Adua’s health — Speaker

By Taye Obateru

Jos — Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Mr. Istifanus Mwansat has advised those playing politics with the health of President Umaru Yar’Adua to have a re-think and desist from toying with the well-being of the nation for their selfish interests.

Reacting to the situation of things in an interview, he described the controversy created by those he said had colonized the president and were taking advantage of his ill-health for selfish pursuits as unpatriotic.

According to him, “it is quite unfortunate that some people are taking advantage of the ill-heath of a mortal to perpetuate selfish interests. Mr. President on his part wouldn’t have loved the way people are playing politics with his health. It has now assumed controversy because of the way people around him are handling the whole thing.”

Mwansat said it was wrong for some people to take the president’s health as a family affair, arguing that as the leader of the country loved by his people, his condition was of interest to all Nigerians.

He condemned calls for the relocation of some federal establishments in the state as a result of the recent crisis in Jos, accusing those making the call as enemies fuelling the crisis from outside the state.
