Banks’ Inspectors hold retreat in Abuja

The second annual re treat of the Committee of Chief Inspectors of Banks in Nigeria, CCIBN, will hold in Abuja, the nation’s capital on Saturday, March 26.

The 2-day event which will take place at Chelsea Hotel Abuja will be marked by some agenda-setting presentations by key players in the nation’s financial sector.

Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi will light up the opening session of the retreat with a presentation that seeks to examine the role of corporate governance in the banking crisis under the topic – Corporate Governance & the Banking Industry Crisis.

The second day of the retreat will be even more daring as the key note speaker will wade into the ever present issue of fraud and internal risk in the banking sector.

The presentation which comes under the heading – Fraud and Internal Control Risk Assessment will be handled by Mr. Sikiru Durojaye, partner, Akintola Williams Deloitte. This presentation will be chaired by the immediate past President of the association, Mr. Remi Adewunmi.

This year’s edition of the retreat stands out in planning and general policy direction as key institutions in the nation’s finance sector like CBN, NIDC and the Inspector General of Police have all been assigned important roles.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Unity Bank Plc, is also expected to give a major speech at the event.
