Yar’Adua: ACF denies playing politics

By Emeka Mamah

Kaduna — Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, has denied charges of partisanship leveled against it by one of its members, Alhaja Tanko Yakassi, following the forum’s demand that President Umaru Yar’adua should hand over power to Vice President Goodluck Jonathan because of his health.

The elder statesman who is a member of the Board of Trustees, BOT, of ACF, had disassociated himself from ACF’s position that the president should hand over power to Jonathan and face his health problems. Yakassi said that ACF was not only partisan on the issue but echoing the voice of a former presidential candidate from the North.

Although Yakassi did not name the former presidential candidate, it was obvious that he meant either the former Head of State, General Muhammadu Buhari, the former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar or the former Governor of Sokoto, Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa.

All three had contested the 2007 presidential election under All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP; Action Congress, AC, and the Democratic Party of Nigeria, DPN, respectively.
