World Cup: Hemingway, Five Star team up for Nigerian fans

By Patrick Omorodion
Two firms, Hemingway Safaris Africa and Five Star Travel have teamed up to provide a hassle free stay in South Africa for Nigerian soccer fans wishing to cheer the Super Eagles at this summer’s FIFA World Cup holding in June through July.

Hemingway Safaris, a South African tour operator which has been approved as an official accredited travel operator from MATCH/FIFA will work in conjunction with Five Star Travel, experts in travel for Nigeria, to provide customised packages for the Nigerian fans.

The package, according to Jean Labuchagne, CEO of Hemingway Safaris Africa who spoke in Lagos yesterday, includes accommodation, flight, transport within South Africa as well as a visa service from Five Star Travel.

“We have collectively more than fifty years experience in the travel and leisure market in Southern Africa, so we are supremely confident that we are able to offer seamless, hassle free packages,” Labuchagne said, adding “We have already secured flights, coaches, chauffer driven transport, charter flights and accommodation in the regions that are hosting games during the tournament, all this at the least possible costs to visiting Nigerian fans.”

He said that the firm has been able to secure about 2000 tickets for the Super Eagles matches as well as the round of 16, quarter finals, semi finals and final for fans who will patronise them, adding that they would “offer tailor-made packages for each fan’s individual needs.”

“Soccer fans are guaranteed peace of mind in their dealings with the company due to their experience and expertise within the South African market, “ Labuchagne said, adding that fans who come to them will see that they offer a more competitive price on accommodation or flights and transportation in South Africa.

He disclosed that fans who want to do additional things outside watching matches could also benefit from the alternative excursions for travellers which they offer, stressing that “We are finding that more and more packages are being booked the closer we get to the tournament and the Nigerian interest is definitely gaining momentum.”

On the issue of visa, he said that “The company will apply and deliver your visa to you once your package has been booked at no extra cost to the clients,” as he urged all fans intending to travel to South Africa for the World Cup to ensure that their selected travel operator is accredited by FIFA.
