Sports in Nigeria is dead, Odegbami

By Kate Obodo
Former Green Eagles player and a member of the Presidential Task Force (PTF), Chief Segun Odegbami (MON) has said that sports in Nigeria can be better again  like it is in other countries if there is a change in the current system.

In a chat with Sunday Vanguard sports, Chief  Odegbami said that change can be effective in all areas of the country’s sports if there are injection of new ideas and personalities who have vast knowledge in all aspects of sports.

“We need to introduce change at all levels in sports, not only football, especially as it concerns the country. Talking about developing sports in the country, we need to think of how to go beyond the level we are in now.

Absolutely, all of our sports is death. There is not even one that is doing well, that is the more reason we need fresh ideas and personality that will come and reverse our sport, football in this regard is not exempted.

“Look at our female football, of course we all  know that things are not going well, why don’t we apply or imbibe new ideas into our sports. This is what Nigerians are complaining of, they are not happy about the way things are going with sports in the country .

“And you know, one thing that is constant in life is change. And we cannot afford to remain behind why other countries are doing every thing tremendously well  in sport,” he said.
