Police arrest community leader, six others for alleged murder

Detectives from Force Criminal Investigations Department (FCID),  Abuja, have arrested the President General of Irri Federal Union, Chief Joshua Ituru and six others over their alleged involvement in the killing of one Efe Ogomodia.

Though details of the circumstances that led to their arrest were still very sketchy as at press time, Police sources said it was based on a petition against the murder of Efe Ogomodia in December last year at Isoko land in Delta State during a peace meeting at the palace of the Odion’rode of Irri Kingdom HRH Ojenuwe II.

When contacted, the Deputy Force Public Relations Officer, Chief Superintendent of Police, Femi Ajayi confirmed their arrest stating that they are being quizzed at the Force CID, Area 10, Abuja.  According to him, “They were brought to Abuja by 2.30pm yesterday and detained at the FCID, Area 10.  They are still under interrogation.  We will soon address the press on their arrest”.
