Police arraign 3 for alleged threat to kill Ogundokun

OSOGBO—Three suspects were yesterday arraigned before an Osogbo Chief Magistrate Court for allegedly threatening to kill a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Osun State, Chief Abiola Ogundokun.

The accused persons are Mr Arowolo Saminu (58), Mr Arowolo Adams (29) and Mrs Arowolo Bimbo (27).
The suspects, according to the prosecutor, Sergeant Olorunkooba Suleiman allegedly committed the offence on 12 December 2009 in Osogbo.

According to the prosecutor, the offence is contrary to and punishable under Section 86 of the Criminal Code Vol 11 cap 30 laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2003.

The prosecutor further told the court that the suspects allegedly made a phone call through GSM phone numbers 08131119026 and 08025997818 where they threatened to kill their victim.

The count two charge also read that the accused persons allegedly conspired together to commit felony thereby committing an offence contrary to and punishable under section 516 of the Criminal Code Vol 11, cap 30 laws of Osun State of Nigeria.

The three accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charges while their counsel, Mr Rasheed Kolawole asked the court to grant his clients bail, saying the offences are bailable.

In his ruling Magistrate Ijiyode Olalekan objected to the oral application of the defence counsel and asked that before the bail application could be considered, there must be written application for it.

The case was adjourned to 23 February 2010 for mention and directed that the accused persons be remanded in  prison.
